Why do we usually make dishes from porcelain instead of steel?

@snacks steel imparts an unpleasant taste to food resting on it sometimes and can rust. If you want pure utility, use plastic. Cleans easier, cheap, neutral taste, will rebound if slightly bent, and if ur in prison no one can brain each other with it

@snacks Uranium steel plates aren't as easy to make.

@kernow @snacks also harder to poison yourself with porcelain, even good stainless steel can go wrong in silly ways, plus porcelain is easier to make pretty and not give off a prison kitchen vibe

@Paultron i don't think plastic cleans easier? At least you can use steel sponges on steel and plastic surface will get rough and sticky over time.
Also basically all our pots are already very corossion resistant stainless steel
