the math is not hard. plugging info into formulas is not hard. the formulas ARE however, hard to remember. it's cruel to no allow notes for formula heavy classes. you wouldnt want your accountant or financial analyst to rely on memory when computing these things.
while i was working on my IT degree, we were allowed open notes. we didn't have to memorize all the little bits and pieces. we just need to know how to put them together.

@twinspin6 since the exams are heavy on terminology, you could probably get a near passing grade with having definitions from your notes. but they could create more knowledge based exams showing you know more than memorizing definitions by having us perform real analysis questions. it'd be a harder, but better exam imo. let us have the notes, make us show we know what we're doing with them.
