Why is it called rgb when we perceive the shortest visible wavelengths as violet?

@snacks meanwhile the peaks of sensitivity are more like blue, green, yellow.

@affine afaik 450nm is usually the cutoff between blue and violet and that's a shorter wavelength

@affine was just windering how we differentiate red from yellow based on that graph but it's obv just less green yellow based on the big ass overlap

@affine so, ig that answered my previous question, display couldn't do reds if it actually tried hitting the peaks
