@Deiru @lucy @fence Yeah but now we're getting into frontends. I don't like electron any more than the next person, but I'd give quaternion a chance to grow. I mean, XMPP is four times older than Matrix, and had been a thing since the '99. I'm more curious about the protocols themselves. Does XMPP support discord-like "channels" btw?

@kaniini @jeff It probably isn't. I mean they talked about forking mastodon to piss off Gargron. Which worked well because Gargron is easy to piss off. I doubt they could get away with completely throwing away their codebase to work on open source, sponsors would be fuming.
