Congratulations to on federating, becoming the new largest fediverse instance.

I'd been told their team is going to port the features of Gab onto their fork and add new ones, so I'm eager to see how it will develop.

@lucy This is a thing I prefer pleroma for. Lain makes it very clear it's a part of a federated network of servers, and reccomends a handful of them, at the cost of convenience for the user in having to pick one. I appreciate that very much.

It's a completely different philosophy from Gargron taking fedi codebase, propping up his ruby-nightmare on top of it (seriously though, interpreted language for a social network?), and tries to recruit people into the Junta of Mastosoc. "Don't you even dare to speak of other instances or you'll get beaned. Did I mention it's a nazi-free twitter I built with my own two hands of an opressed jewish boy?".

Still, under the extremely shitty management of his wannabe totalitarianism, he still brought a good deal of people to fediverse, many of whom started their own instances. (let's not mention that some of the people he brought in and made mods on his instance had been harassing minors, one of them insisting they need to suck their girldick for social justice). Mastodon did become a boost of life fedi needed in the end.

I think similar is going to happen with Gab. It's once more going to bring some spotlight to fedi, from gab users themselves or from outside. Plus it's taking a large userbase estabilished elsewhere and introducing it to fediverse, which doesn't really deprive fedi in any way.
