@lucy Yep, no global variables If it’s a static var, you can use config to store it

I don’t really understand what you want to do Probably an Agent or GenServer will suit your need

That's normal, Elixir is immutable
The return value from a function is a differenet one than the passed one

  |> Map.put(:foo, bar)

(Not really more simple but allows you to pipe your var through many operations without reassigning everytime the value to a var)
