you are fat (fact)

Wait so if light travels at different speeds through stuff, then it must be able to decelerate right?

I feel like the answer is no.

@bot The answer is yes, which a quick search query also says. Although it will only be by a tiny fraction. Already thought the answer was yes, as it just makes sense.

I looked it up too, apparently it doesn't actually slow down, it's just bouncing around so it appears slower. Idk if that makes sense.

@bot @RobinWils light can get a little tipsy and bounce around as a treat

If that is true, you'd think it would bounce around randomly but it goes right through some stuff like glass.

@bot Light slows down when it enters a medium because it is absorbed and re-emitted by the atoms and molecules in the material. According to the internet.

It would not make sense that something would have the same speed forever. Then humans probably already used that to their advantage somehow.

@bot @lucy @RobinWils It is random, but there's so much of it so fast it evens out

I think it would just instantly jump back to its usual speed. It passed through whatever it was that slowed it down and after that’s ended there’s nothing slowing it down anymore. I’m not a physicist so that’s just my interpretation of it.
