Honestly, having travelled a lot more, I do have an increased appreciation for how good British food is

@apophis well it’s just in general really, but things like Mexican food definitely made me think that and eating pasta too

@ruin @apophis from some Mexican place, I didn’t like all the beans or how they mush everything together and how there was so much green stuff

@arcana@fedi.layer02.net @apophis@brain.worm.pink this all sounds like how I would describe British food. I personally love a Mexicali burrito.

@ruin @apophis Mexican food makes my stomach hurt and then I require the lavatory for an extended period of time

@ruin @apophis Also what do you think of as British food that makes you think it sounds like that?

@arcana@fedi.layer02.net @apophis@brain.worm.pink potato’s, beans and green peas sorta all in the play together, then putting beans on your toast, British pies

@jeru @arcana i mean look at this. It won't kill you and tbf it's healthier than avg British "food" but.. it's awful. That slimy tasteless stuff certainly doesn't improve whatever the hell that meat is supposed to be. Near to no seasoning. Colorless, bland, slop.
Compare that with thai curry for example.

@rin @arcana @jeru > doesn't look too bad
yeah it's an okay dish if you remove the slime and meat but putting this as the peak of cuisine really shows how awful british food is

@snacks @arcana @lucy @jeru most people older than 40 wouldnt think of any kind of asian food ever. Unless it's about dog eating jokes. You are not immune to propaganda.

@teto @arcana @snacks @jeru most people >40 are lame and old and soon 6 feet under so i don't need to listen to their jokes anymore

@teto @arcana @snacks @jeru all i know about austria is they're like switzerland but lame.
and yeah saxons fit that label better. annexing east germany was the biggest mistake in modern german history.

@rin @lucy @jeru Yorkshire Puddings are excellent, and that photo doesn’t do them justice

@lucy @rin @jeru >slime

It’s gravy. Why is curry magically amazing but gravy is “slime”? I thought you liked seasoning. Also meat tastes extremely good. It’s a hearty and extremely well taste balanced meal

@teto @lucy @snacks @jeru My great gran was Hanoverian, Saxon chads stay winning

@jeru @teto @lucy @snacks Yes. It’s excellent, no need to build up tolerance to a bunch of different toxic plants to make the food taste bearable [citation needed], just a good old fashioned steak. I think the fact it’s been the Germans in this thread being so far against is primarily due to the decades of propaganda to make them hate themselves and western culture

@jeru @teto @lucy @snacks I mean same, a light chicken korma or some katsu curry is excellent but a medium rare steak is peak

@arcana @rin @jeru brit gravy is tasteless and literally made slimey on purpose, they add gelatin. Disgusting

@lucy @rin @jeru it’s not tasteless at all unless you’ve burnt away your tastebuds by eating toxic plants

@arcana @lucy @rin @jeru That's what Czechs call "Universal brown gravy". The bane of all school canteens.

@phnt @lucy @rin @jeru I mean people can eat roast dinners without gravy too, it’s not a requirement. That’s the great thing, you pick and choose what parts you like

@phnt @jeru @lucy @rin Same with a full English breakfast, you customise it to your own specification

@arcana @phnt @lucy @rin @jeru In Czech cuisine it's not really about choosing. The universal brown "gravy" is usually your only option if don't want to eat dry rice with meat (usually pork). That's the reasoning behind the bane of school canteens and canteens in general.
