Gabbo the wafrn guy neocat_floof_devil_256 (not a vampire)

You joined the fediverse. You should also migrate to FIREFOX

Modern Firefox fell off hard, I ran it for years but these days it's gotten slow and unstable.

@dushman what extensions do you use?

@gabboman@app.wafrn.net
Well I used basically the same extensions as I do now on ungoogled-chromium. That would be: CAD, Ublock Origin and KeepassXC. Not a fan of chromium but it is significantly faster + more stable and I'm pragmatic about the software I use.

It has the telemetry and such patched out so it's a better option than modern FF imo. Kinda sad cuz I remember FF fondly from when it was in its hayday.

@dushman i dont wanna play the card that "works great on my machine" yet, so im gona ask: windows? and antivirus?

the antivirus part fucks so much shit...

@gabboman

You underestimate my power level. circumcision
I mainly use Arch, Alpine and OpenBSD.

@dushman you use chrome so your power level can't be that big.

ungoogled-chromium, not the same thing. It's not proprietary like Chrome and does not have anything that phones home to google servers.

@dushman sorry for that. you should give the fox another chance

Well it hasn't been getting any better I think. Mozilla is a bit of a shitshow these days, there's a reason its market share tanked so hard.

@gabboman @dushman didn’t you say your search wasn’t working xdd

ignoring that our search *works* but is barely usable and most of the time uselessalso ignore the memory leaks and constant crashing we have every 4 minutes plsthx

I like Misskey personally. I'm having a better time on it than Pleroma as an admin.

That's what you get for running Sharkey lol. Tried it out but ended up going right back to Mk, it's far more stable. Had to do some migrations and fixes in db by hand but it worked out in the end.

@dushman @gabboman as much as i hate sharkey (despite it being my fault that i suggested it because the dev sold me the idea of it running faster than firefish (also eval neofox_grimace)) we’re pretty much stuck here considering sharkey implements some of the things that misskey for some reason doesn’t have. like post editing. and … some kind of proper like system. except not really . it does horribly at that . and better post views i guess , misskey ones really don’t help me

Well I can show you how to migrate back to Misskey without mangling your db if you ever decide to do that. First hand experience lol.

@dushman@hollow.raccoon.quest @gabboman@app.wafrn.net we'll probably do that if sharkey ends up going abandoned or they do something we really dislike

@gabboman @dushman Couldn’t get into KeepAss. It was hella fussy with Librewolf (my main browser), where it just wouldn’t work with me for some reason. It especially sucked since I committed to moving all of my passwords there and not random sticky notes that are so hard to sort through.

I just went with Bitwarden. Besides working with Librewolf, it’s also open-source (specifically, under the GPL and AGPL), and many within the open-source and security communities trust it (Librewolf, for example).

KeepassXC is legit and secure tol. Haven't had an issue with it on FF either, I was just having issues with FF in general. Bitwarden is fine but what I don't like about about it is that the desktop program uses Electron (haram).

I sync my own dbs with rsync to my storage server but I usually just recommend Bitwarden to normies cuz it's simpler

@radmin@limepeeps.perchinup.top @gabboman@app.wafrn.net
Also KeepassXC is licensed under the GPL 2. No AGPL cuz like there's no network component, you manage dbs yourself.
