I will never promise to love someone forever. The commitment that makes sense to me is to continue making efforts to have a good relationship and to keep it good, for as long as I see any chance of achieving this.

@arcana he also has some opinions on the wedding industry and awful takes like “marriage is a replacement santa claus to women in their 20s” but, i suppose because he’s never really entertained the possibility in the first place, misses the part where marriage is an inherently oppressive, patriarchal system that uses the moral distress of an oath to give yourself fully to another person and an entire legal framework to trap people, usually women, in abusive relationships
