I didn't work in Mcdonalds for long enough to have good stories, but I worked in a book shop. Standing on your legs for 11h a day might not sound bad enough, but having to stand there, and do nothing was killing me.
It got to a point, where I would sleep deprive myself on purpose, so I could micro-sleep while standing... so the shift would go faster.

it's the occupation with the most cases of job related health issues.

i’ve also seen people who weren’t, and almost all of them were far worse off in the long run. had relatives who worked in retail, some over a decade. it was a bit like watching someone attempt to reintegrate into normal society after serving a life sentence in prison. they can’t.
