@mia mildly related (germans, cars) whenever i see a merc in front of me I'm very careful because they've been, from my short experience, the slowest and most retarded drivers. one friend with a merc drove it into a ditch last week and another friend with a merc fucking totaled it, the entire car up to the windshield is gone he showed me pics. went 120 on a slippery turn

@mia i drive carefully not because the law and someone might be watching if someone pays me the fine I'll rev and speed in front of a cop car, i drive carefully when i notice there's a lot of cars bunched up (a kid can just pop out of there without looking, which is what i did and popped out in front of a car which stopped just in time to lightly bump my bike making it gracefully fall down), or there's people on the sidewalks, or I'm in the nearby city where subhumans cross the road where they aren't allowed to and diagonally which slows you down even further, or when there's an actual crosswalk, or when i see someone driving slowly or erratically.

@mia @meso you can also move over to lower tension on the road and let people who have places to be get to their destination in a reasonable time. The speed limit system needs to be reformed because it is not 1945 anymore where cars weigh 7,000lbs and have drum brakes on all 4 corners. Speed up or let them pass. It's the right thing to do.

@mia @lucy I'm careful on bends because there's a lot of them here. Theres a really nasty one on the road to the hospital it seems like you MIGHT be able to take it at high speed because the road is wide but you have zero visibility until you start turning and the angle is way too high so I always have to dissatisfyingly reduce speeds greatly to comfortably pass that corner

@Mondobizarrro @mia I drive at a pace I'm comfortable with. I don't try to drive fast or hurry, I just drive at whatever speed seems manageable and reduce speed if I need to. There is no cameras here and I know where the cops stops so I don't really look at the speed limit, theres also few opportunities to go over 60 other than at the outskirts where you'd be gaining speeds to leave the town at 90
