@shitpisscum @maija this figure was from a shitty dram-less ssd. Can prob fond ones that do a couple thousand times the whole capacity

@psnacks @maija I'd have to do some math but it's 4TB and claims up to 175MB/s, it's adevrtized as surveillance HDD

@shitpisscum @maija found a benchmark claiming 132 average, so about 200 days of non-stop writing

@psnacks @maija I'm using it in a pc so that thing's gonna last for a long time I bet. Also have one 300GB Hitachi with a label saying "november 2008" still going strong

@maija @shitpisscum easily if you don't use it as swap or something else very write intensive

@maija @shitpisscum but then, almost no one used ssds in 2008

@psnacks @maija Yea it's mostly about writes, I mean SD cards are technically also flash drives and I got some pretty old ones (256MB in a phone from at least 2012. probably older) but that's a light load, also got a dashcam and there's no way you're gonna get more than 2 or 3 years out of a card (often even less lol)

@maija @shitpisscum i haven't used swap in ages, ram is made for random access, hdds are unbearable slow for it

@maija @psnacks Yea I've only had dead sd cards in dashcams, I guess it confirms that it's writes that kill them

@shitpisscum @maija if i'm not misunderstanding, micron datacenter ssds are rated to be overwitten completely more 400000 times
