@druid i do play a bit on more modern versions but as i said, kinda got the itch for the old more modded experince. Especially wanna try red power and mo creatures finally, also finally do something else than strip mine with computers lmao

@psnacks But it's so SATISFYING to finally get all the nonsense together for some seminal breakthrough technology like ender quarrying or ME networks... then strolling through the old bits of your base to see your old poverty setups with extra utilities generators and ic2 and so on.

@druid yeah... Turns out the lag might've been my fault too. Strip mining so much i can't pick up 90% of the items is bad without the fabric optimization mods

@psnacks Yeah, every now and then I contemplate streaming that world just to show it off but it's so bloated that opening minecraft and OBS at the same time might nuke my PC lmao

I also mastered FORESTRY BEES. Like, I got the Infinity Bee. I even wrote a little program for serching bee genetics using computercraft... I got into the habit of sticking computers next to other blocks and pinging them from the command line to see if they have any functions exposed, and got some surprising results that enabled some powerful setups. (For instance here, turns out putting a computer next to an ME interface lets it poll the entire network lol. Careful with big networks, if CC takes more than a full second or two to make something happen without yielding it crashes the program to save Minecraft.

@druid ic2 is only really useful for early game i think, shit like draconic evolution just propells you forward so hard once you can get started.
I think the tech/magic mod i've enjoyed most rho was blood magic

@psnacks Yeah but at the same time it could have been basically anything bro, I've run into so much jank with it over the years. Last thing was Funky Locomotion, the cool pistons that can move and slide even blocks with complicated NBT data like machines. The pistons work but the wrench CORRUPTS THE WORLD WHEN YOU MAKE IT, good times

@psnacks I'm a Thaumcraft boy personally because I like how it obfuscates things and makes you deal with garbage initially before you get better. Lots of mystery....

And yeah, expert mode limits you to stuff like IC2 and Immersive Engineering early on. It's fun to overcome the challenges tbh... my IC2 nuclear reactor, even in MOX mode was only making ~5000 RF/t, but now the Big Reactors setup makes over 500,000 RF/t... and I know from experience that Draconic reactors can get up well over 1.5 million, providing you know what you're doing.

(They're poorly documented, so that's another thing I had to write my own software for...)
