@arcana Better than average taste, youth culture, avant-garde innovation, and also nostalgia. When I was young I thought that hipsters would be around when I grew up, and you could argue that they still are, but it just isn't the same.

@genmaicha they were around when I was running my business in Newcastle a decade ago. I saw them around quite a lot but something about the aesthetic just seemed off to me, not quite sure what it was. I think a bunch of them liked bands like “Mumford and Sons” which I really couldn’t stand. I tend to be pretty open when it comes to music but the voices in music like that grated me like nothing else. Maybe the association with things like that is the cause of my disdain?
