America: vending machines for snack packs and cold drinks
Japan: Yo have you ever wanted to drink hot soup from a soda can? We also have ramen and basically anything you can cram through the dispenser slot.

@Paradox over here I've seen a pizza vending machine. It's frozen pizza and when you pay it bakes them.

@Paradox One thing that consistently frustrates me is that vending machines dispensing hot drinks is wholly alien here.

It's fucking -2c out. I'm freezing.
No. I do not want a god damn ice cold pepsi right now!!!!

@Paradox you can also buy concentrated fish stock which the machine will make absolutely clear is not meant as a drink

@Paradox makes sense, none of these are places I frequent. I guess Dublin Airport in January of this year was the last time I saw one

@arcana
I used one a couple weeks ago at a rest stop and got some fancy coins cuz it was a cash only one.

@Paradox that’s interesting, are the dollars even legal tender still?

@arcana Oh yeah. Just most don't cuz they're usually regarded as collectibles. We make way more bills than coins here.
