@ube@spergia.net @paula8@netzsphaere.xyz generally, guests can't cook period tiredcat a person like in the pic might not realize this, but they probably have stuck WAY less thought into whatever song popped in their head that they now want to subject every single other guest at the venue to, than the person who (if were being real mean and reductionist)'s only job it is to pick songs

not all djs are good @ their job, but most of them have been collecting specific music for years and every song pick is relying on experience of guessing what the current audience wants to hear at any given moment of the evening

@ube @paula8 but it depends on what type of gig ur playing tbh you need to cuck yourself out to song requests way more if ur a mobile dj (one ppl can book for private events) as opposed to a club dj

looking at the pic this seems to be a private event and the crowd seems young? might be a prom, so assuming that the dancefloor is empty because it’s super early in the evening (and not bcuz the dj has been trainwrecking the gig aspinsob ) and maybe adding that undertale/deltarune has been kind of the buzz of the school if a new chapter dropped, there might not be that much harm done in playing that song for that one person. whenever you do take song requests it gets some ppl really happy and excited
