@kaia I keep stuff that can be useful / is important (orders' summaries, appointments, etc) and I delete stuff that isn't useful once read / is uninteresting (junk advertising, newsletters, etc)

@kaia many folders
autosorting as much as possible (using aliases/sorting tags in the addess (mail+folder@))
anything that isn't autosorted gets manually sorted

anything that is not important (e.g. email notifications) goes into the trash
anything that might be usefull again (e.g. stuff with shops) goes into their respective folder

@kaia My email account is my Zettelkasten. Almost nothing is deleted, I even keep out-of-office autoreplies.

@toast@donotsta.re @kaia similar here. i keep most of my mails though in case i need them later. they’re all indexed for full text search.

also my server supports sieve scripting and i use it to categorize, flag and discard emails automatically

kmail can also do other things with them (appointments, extract train schedules, etc.)

@kaia Mail keeper, even for spam, that way I know how much garbage gmail/sendgrid/… sends.

@kaia
Personal emails? I barely receive any since I unsubscribed from everything, I often have something from four days ago as the most recent message.
But otherwise I delete stuff that I'm unlikely to need later, such as notifications.
I have a fetchmail on a dedicated machine that downloads all emails — and even if I fuck up and delete something important, I can always find it there.

@kaia

Never delete (except spam)
Only archive (again... except spam)
