@snacks Or door seals are shot, but that would probably also make it smoke around the door with that flame.

@snacks Maybe... just maybe... it's not designed to have that many easily burnable wood in it. At least there's zero chance you'll have a bunch of soot buildup in the chimney, because there's no way the wood isn't burning cleanly with that temperature.

@snacks I would close the damper and any air vents to calm it down.

I saw the stove pipe glow red hot on our wood stove once when I was growing up.
