Something i've wondered about with dating apps is if people just end up getting desensitized to dates?
You talk to a bunch of people and jump into a date pretty quickly, that's prob only gonna feel like a real date for the first few times, if it happens every month or we it just turns into meeting people but ain't no one here to just make friends.
Or am i misjudging something here?

I just stopped when all of okcupid was just golddiggers/ bots from india or the philipines it was somewhat better many years ago but even then I am a repulsive freak to women so all my (few) dates were bad and were 7 years or more behind.
All my hope I have left is Duodaddy and becoming /fit/

@dagda @snacks getting into a social hobby is probably far more successful in finding a long term partner than any kind of dating app

or if you're too autistic for that & are looking for an autistic partner fedi is honestly the right place

That's why I'll start doing volleyball next week it's a less gendered sport than football or basketball and I don't think I'll find something beyond lurking homoeroticism at the gym

@dagda @snacks honestly transphobic cisgays are mostly a meme like the supposed anti-black asians or whatever that the alt right keep pushing as a token to get rid of affirmative action
the vast majority of gays are far more accepting on average than straight people
in surveys like "do you view trans people positively" lesbians literally score higher than trans people themselves 🗿

@lizzy @snacks
how do you study that tho.
I know someone IRL who has led a lesbian youth meetup and they say that there are definitely lesbians who go there and disappear after a while when they notice they share spaces with transwomen, some even say so explicitly.
These people basically don't interact with the larger queer community at all and have seperate spaces and LGB-centric networks. They may appear at some Rona Duwe speech and edgelordpost on twitter but otherwise stay low profile.
When you make a study for a university for example they will likely share the polls over queer mailing lists, which they aren't even on, so it's barely possible to exclude bias in these studies.

@dagda LGB separatism is an extremely fringe phenomenon. unless you're talking about some secret society type of shit that doesn't advertise itself at all, networks like that don't exist in most places beyond major cities. and honestly if it was significant in any way that would show in at least some surveys, especially surveys meant to sample the general population including straight people.

anecdotally speaking, in the mainstream queer spaces I exist in the vast majority of people are cis, so even if some people leave after being subjected to the horrifying experience of seeing a trans person exist, I don't think it seriously matters quantitatively.

99% of shit i get is from cishet men online who somehow felt threatened by my existence (or just want to insult someone?) while having zero insight into my life. i've literally never gotten shit for being trans from a cisgay person in any serious capacity, and the same just isn't true for straight people.

@lizzy @dagda @snacks

lesbians score higher than trans people

that’s been my experience irl too. the cis lesbians (random acquaintances, not in some kind of queer group) i hung out with a few times early into my transition were the most supportive people i’ve ever met in that regard. supportive in the sense that they were just… normal about it, you know? didn’t make weird assumptions, and when they asked about it they were interested in me as a person and not in what i was doing to or with my body. they didn’t give me the dismissive “happy you’re going your own way”. they weren’t awkward about names and pronouns when talking about the before times—i didn’t have to explain that this is who i should have been all along. i just did not get that treatment from cishets ever, especially men.

also one of them had probably figured out i was trans years before i did, judging by how differently she was treating me compared to all the guys, and how she reacted when i did come out after she asked if i had a brother who goes by deadname. like, “OHH no wonder you seemed so depressed all the time, it all makes sense now, i’m really happy for you! now siddown n tell us what you’ve been up to, seems like you’ve had an interesting year” and poured me a drink lol

i think it’s in large part thanks to them that i managed to overcome the worst of my anxiety
