I was briefly in his xmpp thing and not too long before he disappeared he mentioned the cops came to his apartment looking for drugs.
He also just seemed to be having a bad time in general so maybe he's just stepped back

Unbelievably different era, I've had to rawdog all of mine, decade plus and still counting!! Certainly for the best tho, I've seen enough people have their lives thoroughly destroyed by opiates that it's the kind of thing I'm only willing to take if it's a literal life or death situation.

I agree. Though at times it does feel like the field has overcorrected and now people who are in that situation, who do need strong painkillers, are left to suffer
It's insane that the people directly responsible have names and addresses, but somehow only one family is taking the blame and even then, they've not faced very much legal punishment

@warmbeverageenjoyer @phnt @thatbrickster @meeper there is a general expectation in society that there are methods and systems of accountability which allow for the release of social and institutional pressures. things like markets, votes, protests, etc. with material conditions in real terms rapidly declining for large segments of every age demographic, inelastic expenses (housing, medical) ballooning, and profiteers making off with no recourse or remedy, we're starting to see the beginnings of a social norm where political violence is not only tolerated but lionized. the luigi mangione case from late last year is the type example of this, but if rfk jr pushes his luck with banning certain types of medications or denying the efficacy of vaccines leading to outbreaks of preventable disease claiming the lives of children, since all legal means of recourse have been closed off, people are going to snap and take matters into their own hands. anyway, as someone who was used by the wakefield lobby to push their propaganda (back when it was still lefty-coded), I have a lot of resentment towards most of the above mentioned groups but being christian I'm compelled not to answer sword with sword. it's difficult.
