Vinyl has no business sounding so good. Other media from that time was bad and this stuff is almost on the same level as digital recordings

@twinspin6 what's tripping me up is just, look at color pictures from the time, video was barely a thing, casettes came after and they sound much worse but there's nothing to complain about vinyl with decent equipment apart from the occasional crack and that it's a bit more annoying to play

ive honestly not got a good frame of comparison all i have is cd and digital

want to get into casettes mostly for portability though i doubt that its actually a good idea compared to digital

@zuki casettes did not sound good and they had a tendency to get caught up in the machanisms, worst case they ripped

no i get that the last time i tried playing a vhs it got mangled to hell and i had to untangle and remove it by hand then rewind by hand too

i just... i like physical media + it oughta be crazy battery efficient and thats good for me because im traumatised by digital devices running out of battery on a daily basis and battery life never actually improving because they just keep putting less efficient chips in them

Yeah, the audio is honestly shit and rewinding them is annoying.

I think they made sense when they first came out, super portable and easy to pirate with. There's literally no use case for them now though, and if you use a cassette player (especially in public) it's just an embarrassing fake nostalgiawank LARP
