There was a mod coup a few years ago, I think a few of the old mods were kicked off or something, but I can't remember the whole situation. Besides that, the mods on leftypol org are a bit more trigger happy when it comes to banning people and deleting threads, especially if they think it's a 'troll thread' or something like that.

I think it's because right wing communities often prioritise being as edgy as possible, with everyone attempting to push the envelope of how absurd and crass they can be, leading to a sort of degeneracy spiral.
Leftist communities, on the contrary, are often extremely policing of language, jokes and other such things, which often leads to purity spiralling, which bolsters the biggest, fattest reddit-tier moderators to become the leaders of their online communities.
