You can get him stuck in a specific place on the map and he turns harmless.

Cheesing bosses is gay though, you should get the satisfaction of beating them properly

the stairs? Yeah I did see he gets stuck there but didn't know how to use that to my advantage except having some safety for using healing/buffs

Sort of. I've heard that when Miyazaki was making the game, he wanted to make an old style game where people would share tips and tricks on the game, so if anything I do actually think it is in the spirit of things to exploit the game and share the exploits.
That being said, I'd prefer not to do many exploits myself.

I do appreciate that idea but still I would have appreciated a bestiary in the soymake that at least shows damage resistances. Maybe you could drop the information as loot or as a hint when dying

The game blatantly tells you that though; when you hit an enemy with something and it does no damage, don't do that, change your strategy. Everything in World 2 is weak to two types of damage: thrust and magic.

Also let me know what build you're picking.

No, everything. That whole room can be used to bully that boss.

I thought the same, but then I realized that maybe whoever designed that place does want you to do that, because that specific room looks like it's made to bully that boss, and doing it while dismissing the scenery is the low IQ/harder approach. I did that all the time when I dealt with Elden Ring where a ton of bosses are abysmal dogshit and unfun to fight; just outsmart their logic and bully them with the scenery.

You have multiple upgraded weapons and if I recall correctly some do need a non-trivial amount of souls to be upgraded.

Anyhow, make sure to explore the swamp world thoroughly, there's a weapon there that's arguably my favorite of the entire game and requires 24 faith, I bet you'll like it as well.

not in the near future, I'd go for RPCS3 when I have decent hardware. The game is not that hard to get here used, but I don't know how to grab the ROM without a jailbroken PS3, perhaps I'll just sail the high seas

If you want to rip a physical copy you'll need a Bluray drive that can decrypt the disc but there's a list detailing which ones can, I got myself one that can do it. That's about the hardest requirement, there's a free program that automates the whole process available for GNU+Linux. That game works totally fine on RPCS3, even has online multiplayer, I wouldn't mind spinning an emulator and try playing it online with someone as a matter of fact.

If you did want to pirate them, there's a couple of decent options.

Firstly, most PS3 games are available in zip format from https://vimm.net/vault/PS3
I've used vimm quite a lot so I'm certain they're safe. This gives you an unpacked and decrypted ISO file (called "JB folder") which basically means you don't have to fuck around finding decryption keys or anything, you just point RPCS3 to the folder and it can play the game.

You can also get ISO's from https://myrient.erista.me/files/Redump/Sony%20-%20PlayStation%203/?C=S&O=A
This will give you an ISO file, so you'll need to find the decryption keys for the blu-ray if you want to play it this way. I can't actually remember how to do that, so I'd avoid that method because it's unnecessary work.

There's also NoPayStation, which is literally just a directory of PlayStation CDN download URLs, which means you can download any game that was ever put on the PS3 store.
https://nopaystation.com/search?query=demon%27s+souls&platform=ps3®ion=us&limit=10&orderBy=completionDate&sort=DESC&missing=Show
There's an option in RPCS3 to let you install digital games, where you can enter the RAP (the license file) and the PKG (the actual game itself)

Be warned though, this will literally install the entire thing, meaning you'll have the game's file size twice (once in your RPCS3 .config folder, and once in the PKG file) meaning it'll take up about double the space of the JB folder version in total. You could of course delete the PKG file afterwards to save space though.

Always go for dirs if available, not ISOs, directories make modding easier, some games such as Dante's Inferno will not work properly in ISO format, but everything just works in dirs.

What if you symlink?

I think it unpacks the PKG and installs it, rather than merely copying the PKG to the .config folder.
