if you federate around racist fedi you can see that racism is a form of political correctness for them. As in you're expected to say slur. Which always kills the joke, as then it isn't edgy anymore. If everyone does it, and it's expected, it's just [current moral spook]. You're not trolling jannies, you're not innovating language, you're not making a joke (90% are like "X group bad" without some funny or playful exaggeration of stereotypes even). They even get defensive when majority in-group is part of a joke, as then they'll go "how dare you do the heccin hate speech against white people, I'M BEING PROSECUTED! JANNIES!".
Also it's a cognitohazard. I was raised in an urban area with substantial migration, more than half of my class in primary school had first names with some foreign connotation. And absolutely nothing happened, there was no "picking on the white boy" or demands of following sharia or anything. I did get into conflict for being socially maladaptive but that is my background noise regardless of specific context. Post-ironic racists will dismiss their lived reality for what podcasters say and I think that's kinda sad.
