@snacks going back to a full sized keyboard is interesting. my actual keys are so far to the left i keep having to move my mousepad to make my right shoulder stop hurting

@coolbean oh yeah. I learned that people have made open source replacements for the model f electronics, so now i have something i could base a custom capacitive keyboard on

@snacks god a model f ssk style keyboard would go hard. i wish you the best on that quest personally i was pretty much considering giving up and just getting an f77 reproduction from modelfkeyboards

@coolbean only the electronics are gonna be model f-ish. It will not even have springs as per my current plan

@snacks then what sort of capacitative switch DO you have in mind if i may ask? if not buckling spring would it be like foam and foil or maybe topre spring + dome?

@coolbean basically like foam and foil. Plastic piece with something conductive glued to it. I wanted to use a magnet in the moving piece and a steel mounting plate to provide return force, i think that way it's gonna feel kinda like a tactile switch since once it breaks loose from the top piece the return force gets weaker

@coolbean if i could find conductive filament that has a low coefficiemt of friction and doesn't cost more than carbon reinforced nylon i would use that instead of something glued tbh
