Food crimes?

I found my favorite thing to put on top of my steel cut oatmeal: garlic hummus. Its rich and creamy with a great bite, really compliments the coarse earth oats. Has to be good strong hummus though, no wimpy shit.

Hmm nothing wrong with savory oats. Never heard of this combo though. Thoughts on an egg on top of that?

@madison if I'm making eggs I usually make an omelette with cheese and herbs, that plus the oats is my typical Saturday breakfast

@twinspin6 you might be thinking of rolled oats rather than steel cut. Completely different texture and taste

I didn't eat dinner last night but I have some leftover rice in the fridge. Might fry an egg up to go on top.. with some sesame oil.. yummy

@twinspin6 yes, tougher, coarser, take a long time to cook relatively speaking. Maybe in Europe they're known as something else, like spurtle or porridge oats. My rice machine has a setting for it

@prettygood there's two packets of oatmeal available (usually):
baby blue coloured normal soft oats
evil orange coloured tough oats
so maybe they are just the orange variety

@prettygood hell yeah

(in related news this morning due to a valid but labelly negligent reuse of jars i learned that PB&J with just a smudge of sichuan pepper sauce is really good)
