> blades can now parry guns

the devs saw edgerunners and were like this is good design theory

blobcatwaitwhat no, i hate this because you just privileged a single weapon class above all others. this is bad design.

@yew the narrative being silly is a whole separate box that i don't care as much about. you have a game with like

rifles, pistols, blades, whips, clubs, one or two medic weapons, i might have missed one

rifles basically fell entirely out of favor and now they're nerfing ammo weight, and then picked a single weapon type to give the ability to counter the other, while none of the rest got pushed in to their own specialty.

so its like rock scissors-paper paper and wtf have you done

@yew usually in a competitive scene you usually want there to be some standard matrix of counters and then sometimes there are outlier weapons (ex. elden ring has those "i'm a sword but *this* one has special funny rules) but they didn't do that, they just put a counter on a single class and now everyones talking about rerolling because this is such an obvious cockup

@icedquinn > competitive scene
why care about people that never touch grass

it’s like rock-paper scissors
blades can only attack up close, while guns can attack from any distance, it’s not the same and most importantly:
the narrative being silly
being silly is fun you should try it more often :3

@icedquinn also i don’t even know what game you’re ranting about and tbh idc i just think blades blocking bullets are silly and entertaining :3

@yew y'know if it was tied to a specific scifi blade i'd be entirely fine with this ablobcatderpy

other weapon types can (or do have) their own special silly capstone items

but its an entire weapon family buff and people are pissing on "you have now promoted this to have two parry classes, nothing else does, you've just debuffed the entire game by logical extension"

blobcatgrimacing i'm just gonna go eat and watch tv, and the game is going to have the tectonic shift, and i'll just laugh from a distance whatevs

@yew @icedquinn tbh, the way you've been playing a game suddenly becoming dogshit and being forced to do smth completely different isn't very fun. Don't think "guns" is a really narrow category where you'd expect that to happen either.
Bit also, parrying bullets isn't new. Oldest game i can think of that does it rn is metal gear rising but there's prob older stuff as well

@snacks @yew oh the best part is everyone was just being dismissive at me about it. and then they started finding out they botched it so its anything attached to the blades object type and not the skill. so a medic's scalpels can deflect bullets cirno_shrug

i just think it should be tied to a specific implant or be the class' twist weapon more than the whole, y'know, what it is
