@snacks @kaia I agree that neuromancer isn’t that good. I liked snowcrash more but it’s also not very good, but it’s not a novel but a Wikipedia article with a story.

@snacks @kaia I’ve heard that Gibson watched Blade Runner when he was writing the book, and he then rewrote his book to make it less boring, but it’s still kinda boring.

@lain @snacks @kaia crashing thread i remember

yes its about the “snow crash” virus being shown to hackers & its actually an infohazard from ancient sumer. & hiro goes up the west coast trying to figure it out with his sidekick & realizes that L bob rife is orchestrating it all with a fleet. there definitely is a plot, but i do acknowledge it is weak & more about the world

neuromancer

i think neuromancer is a classic & its cool & stuff, but i just dont think william gibson is that good a writer & it just makes it so difficult to follow bc of that. i 3ead mona lisa overdrive too & found the prose a little better but still just rough

diamond age was better than snowcrash

@lain @snacks @kaia like every sentence is just written backwards & so confusing & all the events in neuromancer r just made up as they happen but its like a decent adventure story

@anna @snacks @kaia I think most cyberpunk stories are better as short stories, just as I don’t want to hear a 60 minute punk rock symphony
