@snacks though tbh i would like to try guix on my laptop if only because linux is battery friendlier and guix would let me configure wifi from guile instead of an actual wpa supplicant config (hell)

@fiore @snacks like i respect guix more than nix for the simple fact that the definitions are lisp expressions instead of total fucking dogwater

@fiore @snacks make a better lisp-based os then

though i have been thinking about combining s6-rc and some simple scheme though it might get not so simple after all (stklos is of interest to me and i dont know why. like i dont get the point of object oriented programming and yet clos calls my name regardless)

@coolbean @fiore netbsds drivers can apparently be compiled as standalone programs running in userspace https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rump_kernel

@snacks note those are ifconfig commands and you can also just run them through that im just writing a persistent config here

@twinspin6 @snacks idk lets ask them network manager always has something good to contribute @NetworkManager

(btw not available outside linux. theres a similar thing written in python for freebsd but netbsd is SOL)

@coolbean isn't it just
wpa_passphrase MYSSID passphrase > /etc/wpa_supplicant/example.conf
And then starting the service? At least that works for me usually iirc

@coolbean the configs for wpa_supplicant are also just
network={
ssid="MYSSID"
psk="passphrase"
}
For wpa
