One of the many reasons Skyrim sucks is the lack of a dedicated magic button. That's one thing Oblivion got very right - you could sword and shield and still have a button for healing. I'm sure they felt very clever having the hand system in Skyrim but the reality is that nobody wants to go into the disorganised favourites menu just to switch between shield and spell whenever they need to heal.

@druid reminds me of how when cooking I sometimes hold something else between my fingers to easily swap

@lanodan Fortunately you don't have to pause reality and scroll through a list of everything you've ever found in order to do that lol

@snacks Yeah, the game feels like weapons in your hands and shouts is the intended way to play. I just don't want to give up and do sword and shield and shouts AGAIN. Why am I playing this game?

@druid i know that stealth at least isn't the intended way because they didn't even playtest dragonborn with it

@druid holding a ton of stuff on yourself could be cool though, no more "where the fuck did I leave my phone again" (and thankfully my keys are attached to my belt)

@druid but tbh, i never had an issue with using the favorite menu. You're using skyui right?

@druid also, maybe look into ordinator. Some of the skills let you cast spells by powerattacking or just entering combat

@snacks I'm not actually, I probably should. I haven't used it since the game was pretty new.

@snacks I'd rather keep the game vanilla or relatively vanilla right now. I'm playing because I've now beaten all the other Elder Scrolls games (well, I didn't beat Shivering Isles yet....) and I want to beat Skyrim (I never have because the main quest is so boring) before TES VI comes out. That probably gives me another ten years, actually.
