Fun fact: keyboards are one of the best inputs for fighting games, they and inputs that replicate them are even illegal in some tournaments iirc

@snacks Keyboards are the best inputs for pretty much any game - although that's dependent on a good keymapping.

@Suiseiseki @snacks >pretty much any game
The exception is Windhaven.

@Suiseiseki but with fighting games a lot of people just assume sticks are the best by far

@snacks Racing games are fine if keys are correctly mapped - Speed Dreams 2 for example correctly maps steering and acceleration.

Fun fact: Mouse and Keyboard are still considered adequate input methods by FPS """gamers""" because they are 40% more precise than the clearly more fun gyroscope controller and 230% more precise than dual stick mokouVomit while ignoring that they are shilling 90's UNIX workstation periphery as peak gaming

@Suiseiseki it'll always be a shitty compromise. You wouldn't use a car with hundreds of horsepower where gas, steering and breaks are 100% on or off

@snacks You don't get full power or full brakes or full steering unless you hold the key down for more than a second.

It actually maps to a real car - it takes around a second to slam on the brakes fully, or accelerate fully, or steer hard left or right.

@Suiseiseki it doesn't take a second to slam the break wtf are you talking about bruh

@snacks After slamming the brakes, you get some immediate braking, but it takes about a second for the calipers to finish moving to the full braking position.

@Suiseiseki pretty sure the last time i tried a full break slam on a car the abs kicked in in way less than a second

@snacks what I wanted to say is more efficient input =/= better input. Best input is what is most fun input

It actually turns parrying/blocking into a joke but any section with cutting (the bit during armstrong's fight and the bit during monsoon's fight) become ungodly difficult.

Also slamming WASD whilst executing a blocks makes you slam your keyboard pretty hard, I once had a neighbour tell me the next day he could hear me slamming my keyboard keys through the walls due to it rattling through my desk

@dagda but i have to say, keyboard for fighting games is nice because i a: don't have a proper stick b: can barely manage to hit motion inputs with a controller
