Stores here started replacing plastics bread clips with bread clips made out of cardboard.
I hate it so much. The fucking cardboard bread clips literally don’t work. You bend them once and they never bend back in place.
I bought a bag of plastic bread clips and I replace them on every bag of bread I get.
Also if the stores actually wanted to do something good for the environment they would replace the plastic bag that the bread is in with a paper bag. Like seriously the bag itself probably contains 100 times more plastic than the fucking clip.
Also paper bags don’t need clips in the first place you can literally just fold them and they stay closed.
It’s the same kind of pointless virtue signalling that is with paper straws.
Paper straws do not matter in the grand scheme of things if you still make the drink cups out of fucking plastic. It would make way more sense to fix the cups first, then think of the straws.
Also paper is a fucking shit material for straws, it gets wet and falls apart. Why not make the straws out of bamboo or something?
Bamboo literally grows naturally in straw shape, you don’t even need to do any processing other than cutting it to size. Bamboo is literally perfect for straws.
@lolitechengineer Bread clips work better I think, easier to remove and reapply
@lolitechengineer It’s not. The paper bread clips literally don’t work.
@lolitechengineer It’s not a paper variant if it still contains steel…
@SuperDicq The best non-plastic straws I’ve used were these ones made out of sugarcane: https://thesugarcanestraw.com — they are sturdy, don’t get soggy, and don’t have any offensive taste or odor to them.
I think cellulose-based straws hold a lot of promise!
@drahardja How is this superior to bamboo that literally already grows in straw shape in nature?
@SuperDicq Because they can be manufactured with more control over dimensions, with thinner walls/lighter weight, and can be made disposable.
IMO bamboo straws are great for repeated use! But most straw applications are in retail and the bulk of bamboo straws would be a net negative if they were going to be thrown out after one use anyway.
@drahardja Oh right I forgot we live in late capitalism where making something in a factory is 0.2 cents cheaper than taking something that already grows in nature so every company is going to choose that instead.
@k1tteh No, we’re absolutely not going to have this discussion again.
@aetios At least it’s still better than those shitty plastic tapes that you can’t open without either using scissors or ripping the bag.
@lolitechengineer @Pi_rat I’m sorry they are kind of forgettable and has like one well known song which is Venom. I do like the nonbinary representation though.
@Pi_rat @lolitechengineer The green one is zundamon. Not part of the “triple baka” crew.
@Pi_rat @lolitechengineer Also I’m slowly developing a Project Diva clone game. You should play it when Its Done™.
@Pi_rat @lolitechengineer It’s not a VN. It is a rythm game.
I figured out that if you simply just reverse engineer the notemap file format that rythm games use you can quite easily create a free software replacement for the game that has the same songs in it.
@Pi_rat @lolitechengineer Because Project Diva (despite how much I love the gameplay), is made by Sega and uses Denuvo DRM and is also a shitty arcade machine port that is locked to a 30 FPS framerate.
@Pi_rat @lolitechengineer And what also helps a lot is that some Japanese guy already made a free software clone called PPD (https://github.com/KHCmaster/PPD).
But it written in C# and uses DirectX only.
So I’m writing a compatible program for it in C++ and OpenGL, while sometimes looking at this C# mess to figure out how to do a thing.
@Suiseiseki @lolitechengineer @Pi_rat Because I am not very a good programmer and I want C with objects.
@Suiseiseki @lolitechengineer @Pi_rat It’s fine I’m still using traditional GNU Make and GCC. No CMake or Clang or whatever.
@lolitechengineer @SuperDicq @Suiseiseki @Pi_rat Objective C!
@BunnyInAHat @lolitechengineer @Suiseiseki @Pi_rat A lot can be said about C++, but at least it is not Apple propaganda.
@BunnyInAHat @lolitechengineer @Suiseiseki @Pi_rat But seriously this is why I hate systems programming so much because no matter what language you pick there will always be someone like “YoU ShOuLd HaVe UsEd mY fAvOrItE lAnGuAgE iNsTeAd!!”.
C++ is literally fine. Especially on your own project where you can just choose which C++ meme features you actually want to use or ignore.
@SuperDicq @Suiseiseki @BunnyInAHat @lolitechengineer @Pi_rat There’s always GNUstep and ObjFW!
(So yeah, good call, probably.)
@tirifto @Suiseiseki @BunnyInAHat @lolitechengineer @Pi_rat As much as I like GNUstep’s aesthetic. I don’t like using it as a daily driver DE.
