Apparenlty ancient india had a bunch of (equivalentnts to) universities, in and around bihar especially, they were all detroyed and and anything similiar never really came back after the islamic invasions
except much later the kerala maethematical school which was doing interesting pre newton calculus stuff, I wonder if the invasions never happened and we had a framework simmilar to universities in europe how different things would be
