@snacks I do want to get around to that, but I should actually beat the vanilla game first.... The only time I gave in to temptation was playing The Wheels of Lull. Have you tried that one?
@snacks It's the lore-heavy one about the beings who keep time turning normally, I don't remember a murder mystery. You might be thinking of The Forgotten City, another excellent mod that got remade as an (even better) standalone game, overhauled completely to be set in the real world and have a (nicely accurate) Roman setting.
@snacks Yep. Closest I've ever gotten is my current file, going to get the Elder Scroll for Paarthunax. I've done so much other content in the game over the years that I'm burned out on a lot of it. I also did a lot of Dawnguard (enough to get past Soul Cairn), but I haven't touched Dragonborn at all. I hear it's the best one.
@druid oh, you never even got dragonrend? Just rushing to that to make dragon encounters bearable is pretty common, but the giant underground area for getting the scroll can be a drag, dawnguards forgotten vale is kinda similar
@snacks I had Sofia or whatever her name is once but I got fed up of her attitude and gold digging. I wish you could marry that ghost waifu who's with you for a few dungeons....
@snacks >Giant underground area So that's what I have next.... And yeah, I decided to rush Dragonrend this time for that exact reason, lol. I tried once before but got sidetracked recruiting people for the Blades.
@druid once you get into alchemy you want to walk everywhere. Every time i start i get really annoyed at how fast your hunger and toredness cause issues but for some reason it doesn't take long to juggle them well. You gotta find something for travel tho, being a werewolf becomes very tempting since they also don't freeze while transformed
@druid mod followers generally are much better, the only vanilla follower that can keep up is serana because the good mod followers are based on all her special behaviour
@snacks Man I already get pissed off dealing with alchemy LOL. I never do alchemy, enchant or smith, I just sell expensive items to buy potions and rely on loot. The true 80IQ Nord gameplay
@druid smithing is impossibly hard to grind past a certain level, idk how anyone does it. Enchanting and alchemy just require you to hoard random cheap shit and then set apart an hours to spam click in the case of enchanting or to just keep making bs poisons/potions on the side whenever you get home
@snacks I should just marry Lydia, that's the true "walks directly towards the quest marker" Nord thing to do. Besides, if I don't marry her she'll just sit in the cuck chair forever.
@druid it doesn't take long until a poison does multiple times the damage of the attack itself and i tend to play in a way where i have to kill as fast as possible
@druid they just keep piling up tbh, you grab ordinator, 3dnpc, some follower and a bunch of graphics, that armor on nexus also looked really cool, oh hey, i really like this combat overhaul!
@druid i did have a playthrough where i subverted that by going all in on summoning and illusion because those aren't affected by the difficulty settings at all
@snacks That sounds kinda fun! I did do a few magic builds in the past, but it ended up feeling strange with the tone of the game and the main quest. Morrowind had no such problems, felt just as natural to do it as an Altmer mage as it did as a Redguard barbarian.
@druid destruction feels weird while the other ones can just augment other playstyles. It scales weirdly where it starts really weak, gets really strong and then falls off again because it doesn't synergize with other skills or even gear really. The spells are also kinda uninspired being basically the same between all elements except on the last level
@snacks Holy shit, really? You should definitely at least beat Morrowind. It's a masterpiece. Blows all the other Elder Scrolls games out of the water tbh.
@druid@twinspin6 its just a dsiconnect between intend and presentation so it feels kinda bad unless you just stand there and think about it like youre playing attrp
