@Suiseiseki That day it rained for the first time in 3 weeks, so all the rubber and oil on the asphalt becomes extremely slippery before rain finally takes it away. Often called a “first flush”.
I wasn’t fully aware of the weather conditions and in combination with driving normally (but not cautiously) into this specific corner that also has significant off-camber (pictured) the rear wheels lost traction and I slid into a tree. You can see by the way that my front wheels are parked that I tried countersteering but it didn’t work.
Another thing worth noting is that I wasn’t the first car that lost traction in this corner that morning. A bystander said they saw another driver also slide and hit the curb a few minutes before I arrived.
@bronze It was totaled. The car was worth 1k (that’s what I paid for it). There is no way a bodyshop could fix that amount of damage for less than 1000 euro.
I sold the car to the junkyard for 150 euro cash and I also got to keep my nearly brand new Toyo tires (worth >600 euro) and the radio I installed (worth 100 euro)
@mangeurdenuage My brother in christ you’re reacting to a 2 days old post of course I am.

@bronze Luckily my Mazda MX5 uses the exact same tire size (195/50R15), so I have a spare set of tires now.
@RedTechEngineer @mangeurdenuage Well my car died and is in car heaven now together with my previous shitboxes.
I’m kinda sad about that because I do think first gen Ford Puma’s are very rare cars nowadays and it is impossible to buy a replacement for (literally zero available in my local used market).
Also I have the “gets emotionally attached to objects” autism so it does feel kinda like your pet just died or something.
