Now my freehub is making weird noises. Did i break tge freehub by using a torque wrench for the first time instead of eyeballing???

@snacks are you certain it's freehub that makes a noise (you tried spinning rear wheel without bike)

@snowy it happens when the wheel spins without the chain moving and when the chain moves without the wheel moving. I can checkbif it happens outside when i'm home but i'd say that's already kinda conclusive

@snacks in my experience freehub usually starts making weird noises not from being overtensioned, but from contamination (if you used spray degreaser on your sprockets before). Theoretically if you do overtension it it would just kill freehub bearings quicker and make it harder for it to spin. (But I am not a real mechanic)

@snowy the metal foil got completely shredded and was rubbing in places

@snowy idk what you call it, it goes between the nut and outermost sprocket to make sure it can't come loose

@snacks
that's a spring washer, by your description (I don't really have that on my bike and it's just a lock ring for me).
