which icons? favicon.ico - static file served up, ez swap, custom emotes - idk they're cached in localstorage and have to be refreshed if you add a new one, glyphs everywhere else is fontawesome free icons, avatars/banner bg for imageless posts just loaded from metadata

Coding wasn't what it was made for. Coding really came as an after though. The original ChatGPT was pretty bad at it. It's honestly still pretty bad at it, but what changed is the use of harnesses (OpenCode, Claudecode, pi, etc.) that gave the LLMs access to all the local tooling to check its work. You don't notice how bad it is because it now just iterates until it gets it right. But now you're also letting it run lots of arbitrary commands on your machine (unless you put your harness and workspace in a container, which most people don't bother with).

I respect the resistance tbh, I avoided chatgpt when it first became popular, pre-vibe code. I think it was ~Sonnet 3.6 that I was seeing examples that made selling my soul worth the trade

it just gets to the point where:

- is this code from an LLM?
- It might be... so I better not use this code, and now that I've seen this simple patch I've been tainted by reading text from an LLM
- I'm going to bring in my pvre human friend to fix the bug

@djsumdog @RustyCrab @lina @harblinger ai is as good as someone that has never done a task before but knows a little bit of everything and also thinks at the speed of light. the limit is when that person doesn't have the knowledge needed and can't throw shit at a wall anymore.

and "ai sandboxing" is a meme. just give it its own user without doas access and make sure ur boxes aren't accessible from outside ur own little private network. at that point unless ur actively being attacked or someone's prompt-injecting their own little blog/git repo nothings gonna happen
