@fiore @amadaluzia me when i push a gnu to the roof of my mouth (i have to link against part of libtool but libtool doesnt support pkg-config because its libtool and not pkg-config and i have to email the gnunet mailing list asking wtf is up in this regard

b. xml based federation has already been tried and it was apparently even worse than the abysmal state of current activitypub i would not like to see this jab at it

@chris you're right about every XMPP client being barely tolerable, the main IM everyone uses doesn't even have replies for fucks sake. I think on XMPP's end, publish-subscribe seems to work well, I've not run into issues yet.

@amadaluzia @fiore i remember a particular burn i got whilst trying to dm someone in a gc, think i used some sort of 'whisper' feature that most clients didn't support and the 'whisper' was sent to every client in the gc and since the clients didn't actually implement the standard it just.. posted onto the gc like a public message. it was super weird and ass backwards. xmpp gc stuff seems fragile, especially when e2ee is involved
