xamarin support ended in may this year.
android-studio doesn't run on tumbleweed (is not officially supported either).
godot works for many apps but not for what i plan to do.

what exactly are the not totally shit options for app development in 2024? is flutter any good?

@lucy If you need an Android app, Flutter and Kotlin with raw Android API are basically the only sane defaults. The other option is Qt with a lot of KDE Frameworks libraries.

@lucy Or Webshit with React native is always an option.

@lucy Yes, I have it for doing exports, I do remember it being a slight pain to install but I do have it. I must have installed it about a year ago.

@lucy@netzsphaere.xyz @arcana@fedi.layer02.net it may be a factor, possibly some gtk libs are missing?

@lucy it’s possibly not I’m just trying to see what might be different. While I do like OpenSuse, I have noticed it seems to be the odd one out many times in terms of software support which lots of software simply not being made for it for some reason

@mischievoustomato @arcana if i had a nickle for every techbro telling me "just works on my machine" I'd be rich enough to pay people to fix my gtk issues

@arcana something i noticed is, it does have quite unusal default configurations sometimes, but it does also fix a lot of issues certain software has out of the box so it's a double edged sword ig? so far i look tumbleweed a lot

I've fixed my issues on my laptop on my own and it didn't require money

@lucy Yes, I definitely do like it, it can just be a challenge to get certain types of software working on it sometimes but really that’s on the exporter of the software

@lucy could it be a Java issue? I think I might have needed the official Java version rather than the open source version for it? Unsure though

@arcana they're both official and idk it uses the jre shipped within android studio by default anyway

@arcana also, plan B is to use the android tools directly i have a lot of utility scripts around the only nice thing from android studio would be the ui design tool ig

@lucy I’ll try to see what I did for it soon when I’m on my computer if I can still see anything meaningful, I do remember it being a painful setup but I don’t remember what I did
