@waifu Literal taxes are far more ethical than hypothetical taxes, or imaginary taxes, to be fair.
@realcaseyrollins@noauthority.social it's actually the opposite, those Minecraft banks literally give money away
@waifu Well, at least the way I see it, a tax is a fee of labor for the work done by public servants. It is more expensive to fill a pothole in the road than it is to run a whole #Minecraft server, making real-life taxes far more justified.
@realcaseyrollins if a private runs a server they can decide if they want to charge a fee for entering or not, and people can decide if they want to pay or not.
You cannot just “stop paying taxes”. They are imposed by the state using violence, which makes the state just a “good” thieve, but it is still thief.
How is the government making you pay for services they render to you theft? Is it theft if a restaurant keeps you from dining and dashing?
@realcaseyrollins@noauthority.social you cannot stop paying them, I just explained it.
What if I don't use the roads?
What if I don't use the school?
What if I don't use X service that they "think" it's arbitrarily important?
@waifu You can leave the country.
And besides, even if you're doing absolutely nothing, you still benefit from the people who are working for you (ostensibly).
It's not that you can't stop paying them, it's that paying them is more convenient than removing yourself from the government's protection and services.
@realcaseyrollins@noauthority.social
so your solution is leaving? Lol

See Romin, it's fine when the government does it but when Mafia does it it's baaaad
