why tf are a good chunk of my package downloads returning 404 right after running zypper ref?

the problem is that mirror sync works via rsync, and rsync is fucking garbage that does not scale to that size
furthermore, there are constant issues with the upstreams. network issues, rsync being too slow and causing I/O storms leading to timeouts issues, and so on
it is hard to get a mirror to sync properly right now, and has been for years. infra for all this is run by SUSE and they’re being corporate retards about it.
