just enlightened this woman that walking/standing without your legs locked is not normal and that it’s much less tiring if you lock out your knees when you’re standing

(her thighs are huge from literally never locking out her legs for the last two decades)

@16af93 okay, so you know how if you extend your leg in front of you, your knee stops going when your leg is approximately straight

imagine walking without ever letting your leg extend fully/lock out like this

@Clover I'm just trying to figure out how it feels to walk without locking them

I had knee trauma(s) a few times and I was forced to walk without fully locked knee (but it was in the brace) for like a few weeks and it was hell

@Clover @desea meanwhile for me locking my legs makes it worse cause they lock bent too far back

@snacks if your knees bend too far back naturally, it can be bad for them, but generally your legs being locked out when you’re standing is the normal posture afaik

@Clover when walking your muscles should provide damping, you don't want all that shock to be dissipated in your knee, idk about standing

@snacks I mean yeah of course, the muscles are involved a lot with walking, and locking out the leg you’re stepping forward with is bad, but fully extending the back leg doesn’t feel unnatural or bad imo

@Clover how are your muscles gonna be involved when the main force hits while there is no angle between upper nad lower leg?

@snacks how do you walk with any significant angle in your back leg? that feels like the way I would sneak around in a shorter posture not standard walking

@Clover back leg is fine without angle afaik, thought you meant both

@snacks yeah, front leg bend is important, but if you don’t lock the back leg walking becomes very tiring (and this is what she was doing)

@Clover back leck angle depemds on pace and how much weight i'm carrying for me i think. Also stand with bent legs and my feet start complaining long before my muscles tbh.
Kinda wondering if i got used to that from when i was obese to put less load on my knees, but straightening them while standing feels cursed now
