I've been looking for a gboard replacement for a while now and just found futo keyboard today. It's the first one I've tested and liked right away. Feels familiar, big keys, decent autocorrect, multilingual support, and swipe to type. And it's apparently offline.

Good stuff.

@Stellar check out the other post I made, it's a little different to use the swiping. Still leagues better than other I've tried though.

@Stellar they apparently also have a whole website for helping train the swipe algorithm. And it's all proprietary, not goodle based. Check thibaultmol's post in the thread, haha.

@CheetahFluff heliboard on izzyondroid is free software by default and you can add swipe support with a single file from google

The swipe typing isn't quite as good as gboard, but it's serviceable. Don't expect to throw your thumb around the board and get the right words like you can on gboard - it's a little more precise than that.

Good QoL thing is that it adds a space automatically after certain punctuation like commas (,) periods (.) and hyphens (-).

@CheetahFluff the background on this by the way is that other open source keyboards that also have swiping the abilities like Heliboard actually use a library from Google for that.
What FUTO did is build their own machine learning based swiping engine.... The problem was that there is no large enough public data set with swiping data. So they had a website where people could swipe words for them to create a data set which they've now also open sourced.

@CheetahFluff https://swipe.futo.org/
So while it might not be great yet I'm sure they can make it better over time

@Stellar I may have misunderstood actually. It might be open source? At least the swiping dataset is.

@hj @CheetahFluff I used to use anysoft but I love how heliboard can be customized to match the rest of my phone. its funny, I added support with the file from google but I never use swipe. for a brief period I used it while using my phone one handed but u kinda forgot I could use it and stopped.
