Man I feel so bad for kids and teens who have to grow up with the modern day internet. It's an uphill struggle of "don't get Diddy'd" and somehow parents are still clueless.
I am not sure what diddy diddied, but what about the kids who wanna get diddied?
ひげ
@relentless_eduardo as an ex kid who wanted to and actually did get diddied it is for the best kids don't get diddied and have their parents knowing what they're doing online. Crazy take I know.

@Mr_NutterButter oh I could get into a massive fucking rant about parents sucking ass but I'll refrain for now lol.

@maija yeah less moderation, but less people, and higher quality moderation with higher quality users. No algorithms, no predatory shit. No phones to access all of it at any point you want. It just feels like an absolute minefield if you don't already know what you're doing.
ひげ
@Mr_NutterButter yeah I know in practice it won't be that easy, but a little bit of preparation can still go a long way. It's evidently clear that a lot of parents just sort of take in methods of parenting through cultural osmosis and they don't actually try to understand any of it. If that makes sense.
" kids don't get diddied and have their parents knowing what they're doing online."
this is a confusing sentence. do you mean it is best kids don't get diddied AND their parents know
or just don't get diddied
?

@Mr_NutterButter @beardalaxy
>do you feel like parents are more retarded nowadays and what they were in the past
Yes.
I wasn't even an adult yet when I realized children shouldn't get access to internet connected devices, but now I see adults all around me giving tablets and smartphones to children barely able to read.
>our parents were retarded about the internet but they still told us valuable information like don't give out personal information and don't meet strangers online
Mine didn't. I think I've learned every possible life lesson from TV and entertainment media, back when it was actually decent. But your point still stands that the generations that were clueless about the internet still gave out better advice than the generations that understand or grew up with the internet.
that still does not tell me what damage. can you clarify?
