If I send you a vegan fat free cookbook, your body will eat itself for the fats and calories.

@cyb3rm0shp1t No cookbooks, I just have the historical archive of alt.cooking.chefs, a Usenet newsgroup which used to be about regular chefs and cooking but eventually by way of neglect and the decline of Usenet more generally turned into a solicitation forum for cannibals (I'll have to double check if it has continued in this role after Google Groups got de-peered from Usenet, but I sincerely doubt it)

@technicallydifficult @cyb3rm0shp1t (jokes aside stuff like this is basically the reason I can't do veganism, I need all the caloric input I can get, ideally balanced, ideally dense due to how messed up my digestion and GI is)

Oh same same. I'm intersex so my whole nether region is fubar, and then on top of that, my ancestors subsisted on meat, fish, dairy, and rye grain for 10,000 years before modern diets emerged in the 1600s. I'm like 80% north European, and 10% arctic ancestry, and the rest is tiny amounts of native american and african, so I'm soooo not good at digesting vegetables. But fats? I can digest fats and protein like a boss. But I need high protein diet.

percentages not exact, it's not important and I'm lazy.

It's bothering me, so I'll give a basic 4 generation breakdown:

gen 4 Me, very confused about my ethnicity

gen 3 Mom who is very mixed, dad who is irish and norwegian

gen 2 maternal grandpa who is wild mix, maternal grandma who is mostly german and english and scottish and irish, but english portion is norman origin - paternal grandma is norwegian 100%, paternal grandpa is irish 100%

gen 1 mom's grandparents: paternal gr grandma davvisame (northern sami tribe) and northern sweedish of mixed inari sami and nordic ancestry - paternal great grandfather, english, mullungeon, and eastern band cherokee. - maternal great grandfather german from rhineland and bavaria, pennsylvania dutch, netherlands jewish converts to protestant christianity - maternal great grandmother, british nobility and scottish, some royal german and french. Descendents of Charlemagne and William the Conqueror.

further confusion:
stepdad is mexican, I have native american and west african aunts and uncles, my step-brother is half carribean islander, and I'm a muslim.

@technicallydifficult @cyb3rm0shp1t that.... definitely sounds like quite the mix. can't say I have anything nearly as interesting, but then, I also haven't looked into how to research the genealogies too deeply and I also refuse to get dna tested (even though basically everyone in my extended family has so it's kind of fait accompli regardless)

I actually know my royal ancestry back to the second century in an unbroken line, and major names before that from the oral tradition. Other lines from commoners I don't know much. Illiteracy in the past is kind of the issue in that regard.

Weirdness with the Mullungeon section in there is that that is a mix of slaves from Senegal and the Carribean, Algonquin groups of native americans being pressed into slavery after being prisoners of war, and Irish and English indentured servants. They had a major slave revolt in the 1720s and when the fight ended, they were simply exiled. They became allies of the Cherokee and Shawnee and when those tribes were recognized as nations the first time around, the Mullungeons were citizens.

Some of those early Mullungeons were probably Muslim, since that was the common religion of Senegal since the 1200s. So, I kinda feel like I came full circle, but it's a mindscrew trying to explain how my family invaded spain as 4 seperate cultures.

Visigoths? yes. Moors? yes. Vikings? yes. Franks? yes.

When you go back far enoough, you find your entire ancestry absolutely answered the Fuck marry kill question about each other over and over. It's wild.

Mom's family fought for the brits at Towton, Dad's side fought for the Irish.

I have an intersex condition, tried transing to fix it, dysphoria hit me harder as a girl, so I detransed. realized my brain doesn't have a gender. kinda like my body doesn't have a strict sex.

Have Ehlers Danlos, POTS, and weeeeird digestive issues. And Autism. And then the trauma of growing up in a hyper-conservative "autism is because you're a child of the devil" kind of family gave me a ptsd/ DPD problem.

@allison @technicallydifficult @cyb3rm0shp1t if you can tolerate being in pain and having the shits for 2 weeks minimum while your gut biome reorganises its self you could be fine

anything more than a month is probably means another issue tho

@nuukaset @technicallydifficult @cyb3rm0shp1t certainly not. but in a roundabout way it led me to being raised by fringe parts of the internet, so one can't truly say whether it was ultimately good or bad (??)

My brain and my bowels don't work without nicotine. Like, me without tobacco... well, without tobacco, people tend to assume that I'm a meth-head when I don't smoke because I straight up shake and can't think straight and act heckin weird.

Only if I drink a lot of soda.

But I have a weirder problem, I can only tell I need to pee when I get a headache and drinking coffee makes me feel kinda drunk, but powerful sedatives do absolutely nothing. Like, I was given enough valium to knock out a horse, and it felt the same as drinking a shot of espresso.

@allison @nuukaset @cyb3rm0shp1t

I drink coffee at night to help me sleep. Stims have a calming effect. My baseline is so extremely hyper and anxious that psych meds do absolutely nothing that they are supposed to do. Anti-psychotics make me hallucinate. Stimulants calm me down. Sedatives and anti-anxieties make me hyper. Benzos just prevent me from masking, which means whoever is around me is gonna get a infodump firehose effect directed at them. Anti-depressants make me depressed.
