or "West OS"

Death in June is a post-punk/neofolk band that popularized this whole greek/roman statue chic in alternative culture.
Also they are literally gay nazis, perfect fit for the free software community

I was just meme'ing. One of the Artix devs has a greek statue as his pfp on the Artix forums.

I'm thinking of trying out Artix and maybe switching to it as my new main desktop OS. Currently on Gentoo, and the package management is driving me nuts.

That's another one I'm thinking of. I like how incredibly fast apt is. But generally Debian moves very slow in development, right? I'd love to try out XLibre and stuff.

I've actually run into situations in the past where the Debian stable or Ubuntu LTS version I was using on a server didn't have a recent enough version of various software to support certain things. blobcat-pensive2

Not sure how likely it is to happen on desktop, but yea I like having easy access to the most up to date stuff.

I know someone who runs sid as a desktop
He's also insane

Whenever I install Debian on a desktop I always switch to Sid because I don't fancy using software from four years ago, most stuff you'll want to compile will fail due to this issue as well.

I've been dealing with Artix for the last couple years, I got it installed to serve as the stinky corner where I dump all proprietary soygame slop even though I ended not playing much slop and sticking to old games from late 90s and early 2000s.

I knew the greek pfp guy sounded familiar, I've seen that guy bullying trannies every now and then, something I can't blame him for doing, these people end up becoming a pest whenever allowed nearby.

Never worked for me, always breaks one way or another. Debian and derivatives are trash either way.

Huh? Artix has a firm anti-age verification stance, though. I thought you were stanning age verification hardcore. Saw the light when the federal bill hit committee, or...??

Consider Void by the way, I have both Void and Artix on my main desktop, if I had to pick either I'd go for Void because it has the best package manager I've ever tried.

For some reason I keep mentally associating Void with Alpine and the anti-GNU crowd but I guess that's not the case. Maybe I'll take a better look at it some time.

As usual I disapprove of your "colorful language" but considering it's you I'm gonna assume he merely expressed blunt disagreement, rather than actually bullying anyone.

I use Steam and play recent proprietary games so it's good to hear it works well for that.

@nicholas

Being annoyed at people who think age verification opens the gate to mass-surveillance or censorship, thinking that simple privacy preserving age verification would be a good thing, and sperging out at viral disinformation about how the EU's age verification app was supposedly "hacked," does not equal avoiding any software made by people who are on the other side of this. blobcat-joy

If I wanted to exclusively use technology made by people who agree with all of my political views, I'd need to live alone in a cave on an isolated island.
