I haven’t seen that to be the case so far from our interactions on the Fediverse. There will be people that may hate you simply for what you are, but truth be told they’re probably doing you a favour by making their position clear from the start so you know to avoid them. @xaetacore and I regard some of the more censor heavy Mastodon instances in the same way. If they were going to defederate our instance entirely from vibes and subjective judgement calls without first checking in on our policies to see the kind of community we wish to cultivate. Then we are better are probably better off for it by not having to deal with authoritarians.
Those that hate you simply for aspects about yourself that you cannot change are not worth your time or consideration. As for whether people do truly hate you or not, why not observe the way people interact with you and reach a conclusion from there.
It is important to know that you won’t please everyone, but likewise you can’t and shouldn’t lose sleep over the possibility of whether someone hates you or not. What someone thinks of you is ultimately not important unless they happen mean something to you.
