You were also on a different instance, following different people. Now you are here again and presumably uploaded your followers list, and some of those accounts have moved, some are on different servers, and uploading the followers list can be flaky sometimes anyway.

You were also using different software. Like I said when you said you were gonna run Mastodon, Pleroma federates Likes and this fills your instance up with posts liked by people you follow. Mastodon does not do that last I checked.

I made an entire website to share this data: https://fedilist.com/ . It's easier to quantify if you define it, but I don't think "frequency of posts on TWKN during the hours you are awake" is a reasonable way to do that.

You can also do things like this:

@graf @NonPlayableClown @Tony @dj @koropokkur @verita84 Like, right now, with three machines running workers, it's averaging about 34k instances per hour, about 41% of all instances running behind schedule. It stayed at 0.2% behind schedule when it was at 75k instances per hour.

Starting up a couple of workers on a VPS or two with fat enough pipes would likely get it up past 75k; a really beefy one might make it easier to actually run it from there. On the other hand, since I moved all the data storage to Revolver, I don't know how the throughput would be affected. I think it improved it but it's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison. I do know that it eliminated about 100GB of data from Postgres (and the block-level de-duping helped significantly).

The beta Poast one I like personally so that has my suggestion.

I respect his takes on Internet preservation and net neutrality, but with every passing year I find him retarded in an increasing amount of other areas. I think that's kinda okay though, I like that I find many reasons to disagree with those that I follow. I feel like if I followed somebody who I agreed with literally all of the time that'd be indicative of something being terribly wrong.

People did this shit with me, too: I set up a server to ensure freedom of speech and then people would accuse me of making rules to curb freedom of speech. If I didn't like freedom of speech, I could just turn off the goddamn server. So the rules were always "This is the shit that will get me to stop you, so you know what will be a problem in advance, and other people know what to expect."

I've noticed that too. I don't know what changed, I've been tuning into MATI for years and often considered Jersh to have very respectful and informed takes. Nowadays it seems like he's deviated from that reputation somewhat, at least enough for a long time listener like me to notice. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but over the past year I've had less enthusiasm about MATI. I used to tune in enthusiastically, now I still tune in but I'm kinda lukewarm about it and don't pay attention as much during the stream.
