@pi55d @lucy
And XMPP clients should just show you a window with a prompt and bubbles containing random strings instead of parsing the gibberish your so-called friends send you 😏

@pi55d @lucy Agreed. If you need one to many relationships use JSON. If not, use a flat file. XML is just a nuisance.

@m0xee @lucy

they already do that except instead of gibberish it's "This message was encrypted with OMEMO, but not for your device."

@m0xee @pi55d @lucy I will never forgive Jabber for changing to that ugly-ass name.

@lucy @m0xee @pi55d It's in the settings somewhere, look for it. I forget exactly where.

@Hyolobrika
TBH I don't even remember when it was different, even in the Google.Talk days it had the dual Jabber/XMPP name already 🤷

@pi55d @lucy I have to deal with CSV a lot at work. Wrote some filters so I can use textutils (cut, sed, etc) on CSV files. Also have to use JSON, and nodejs or python handles that fine. XML? Please don't send me XML. Do you have another option?

@m0xee @lucy @pi55d I wasn't using it while it was called Jabber either. But I still think it's a better name.

@Hyolobrika
I prefer thinking of it as Jabber being the network and XMPP being the protocol itself — same as with Fedi vs ActivityPub really. This makes "Jabber/XMPP client" or "Jabber/XMPP server" lexically correct. Not sure if this is canon though.
